Emily Palethorpe

Emily studied cello at the Canberra School of Music with David Pereira, completing her Bachelor of Music with distinction in performance. She has completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Performance at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music studying with Susan Blake. This year she has completed a Masters in Teaching at Sydney University.

Emily has established a busy teaching studio and plays as a founding member of the string quartet, Accent Strings. She is also a cello teacher at Loreto Normanhurst, Arden High School and Shore.

Emily has played and toured with the Australian Youth Orchestra and is currently playing with the Sydney Chamber Orchestra, The Beatnix and the Balmain Baroque Group.

Emily works as a freelance cellist and has performed on TV with Lior at the APRA Awards in Sydney, OZ Music Awards and the Australia Day celebrations in Canberra. She also played at the MTV Music Video awards with Scribe and appeared on ‘Home and Away’ and ‘In Siberia Tonight’ playing the cello. This year she has recorded and performed with Thirsty Merc, Katie Noonan, Dave McCormack, Primary, George Byrne (Enmore Theatre, The State Theatre), Jack Housden, Faker, Anthony Callea, The Veronicas and Iota.
