Symphony
Conductor: David Griffin
The orchestra, formed in 1983, is a full symphony orchestra. The players are generally secondary school and tertiary students and are drawn mainly from the western, north-western and northern regions of Sydney. The repertoire is ambitious and includes works by European masters as well as Australian Composers. Outstanding young soloists perform concertos with the orchestra, giving the orchestra the opportunity to experience the techniques associated with soloist accompaniment. Tutorials are conducted by prominent musicians for all sections of the orchestra from time to time. Concerts and other public performances are presented several times each year. Rehearsals are held on Wednesdays during public school terms from 4.30pm to 6.45pm at Beecroft Primary School Auditorium, corner of Beecroft Road and Copeland Road.
