The NSYO was first formed in 1983 as a community-based organisation run by parent volunteers. Based in Beecroft in Northern Sydney, the NSYO is comprised of Strings & Sinfonia, the Wind Ensemble  and the Symphony Orchestra. We support more than 130 talented young musicians aged 5 to 25 years to develop musical and orchestral skills, and to experience the thrill of playing in live concerts to sold out audiences.

One of the highlights of being part of the NSYO is the opportunity to play at community events such as flash mobs, movie premieres and kids' concerts. We also love going on tour, and will be heading to Europe  to participate in the Summa Cum Laude Youth Music Festival in July 2018.

Parent volunteers remain essential to running the NSYO, with all families contributing to concert and tour planning, running the management committee and of course providing supper at all of our concerts. We gratefully acknowledge the support of our sponsors.

We welcome all interested players to contact us, or to jump right in and apply to audition.
