The String Orchestra provides a valuable opportunity for beginners and younger players to experience ensemble playing very early in their musical education.

Minimum standard for NSYO String Orchestra violinists
Scales: C major, G major, D major: 1 octave
Positions: 1st position
Grade: AMEB Grade 2 or equivalent
Age: 6 years or over

The Sinfonia caters for more advanced String Orchestra players of upper Primary School and Secondary School age. The repertoire includes a variety of popular, folk and classical music.

Opportunities are regularly given for solo performances for the leaders of the sections and the gifted players in the ensemble.

Rehearsals are held on Wednesdays during Public School terms from 4.00pm to 5.00pm  (String Orchestra) and 5:00pm to 5:45pm (Sinfonia) at the Upper Hall of Beecroft Presbyterian Church on Mary Street, Beecroft.
