Northern Sydney Youth Orchestra celebrated the magic of cinema with From the Silver Screen at The Concourse, Chatswood. The evening brought together our young musicians for a programme of film music and storytelling.

The Symphony Orchestra performed The Bear and the Piano live to film, accompanying the screen with Daniel Whibley’s score. Adapted from David Litchfield’s illustrated children’s book, the film follows a story of friendship, discovery and music.

NSYO’s String Orchestra and Wind Ensemble also explored music from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Thor: Ragnarok, Studio Ghibli and Fantasia.

James Palethorpe directed Strings and Sinfonia, Tim Ferrier led NSYO Winds, and David Griffin conducted Symphony Orchestra.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for a memorable evening of music and storytelling.
